The Bupa Great Edinburgh Run 10k 2011 will take place on Sunday 2 October. The popular 10k event is part of a Great Day of Running in the Scottish capital, including the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run 5k and the Bupa Junior and Mini Great Edinburgh Run.  

The brand new 5k event is perfect for beginners - or those returning to distance running – offering the opportunity to experience a competitive road race in the heart of one of the UK’s most picturesque cities.

Take on the 10k challenge
If you’re already a regular runner or feel like you’re ready for a bigger challenge, why not sign up for the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run 10k? Last year over 10,000 runners took part in the race, which starts and finishes in the beautiful surroundings of Holyrood Park.  Running is a fantastic way to burn calories, drop pounds and can help build up your confidence and self esteem. Another great thing about running is that it doesn’t cost the earth and you can do it almost anywhere, all you need is a pair of trainers and the great outdoors.

The course
Both 5k and 10k courses start and finish in the beautiful surroundings of Holyrood Park and take in some of Edinburgh’s most iconic landmarks, including: Edinburgh Castle, the famous cobbles of the Royal Mile, the Scott Monument and the Scottish Parliament Building.
