Presenter
Darren Adam
You can hear Darren every Sunday afternoon from 1pm-4pm on Forth One or daily from 9am-12noon over on Forth2 for his mid-morning show.
Night time in 1993, then lunch time, and then breakfast, er, time, from 1996 until 2003.
What is the best gig you have ever been to?
Blink 182 and No Doubt in New Jersey in 2004.
Who’s the most famous person you have met?
I have had the chance to speak to many famous people over the years – the likes of Robbie, Kylie, Alan Whicker, Patrick Kielty, and Ronan Keating (so many times that frankly it became a little repetitive). Clearly none could hold any kind of fame-related candle to Diane Lester, however.
What is the strangest thing that has happened on your show?
Apart from the spontaneous combustion, and the time that Diane Lester levitated six feet off the floor, oh, and that whole “turning base things into gold” period that we went through, it really was all dreadfully uneventful.
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
Invisible flight. And arithmetic, obviously.
What was your most favourite childhood sweet?
Do you remember Gambit bars? They consisted of two strips of chocolate, one plain and one milk, stuck together. Nobody else seems to have any memory of them. I suppose it’s possible that my subconscious has generated a novelty Eighties confection, but it does seem a little unlikely.
Do you have a secret talent?
Involving tequila? Certainly.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Having to take a giant comedy whip through customs at Cyrpus International Airport, in the company of one of my esteemed colleagues.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Pack the whip in your checked luggage, sir.
What’s your favourite possession?
That, without even a trace of doubt, would be my car.
Who is your most embarrassing celebrity crush that you‘ve ever had?
Ah, the “celebrity crush” question. I’ll tell you what I told the guy at Toys ’R’ Us: I’m torn between the Marge Simpson and the Barbie.
What has been your most favourite moment at Forth One so far?
It might just have to be my trip on the Miller Jet in 2004. A private jet, five star hotels, free beer and world class gigs all across the USA. Yeah, I’m pretty much going with that.
Tell us something about another Forth One presenter?
Did you know that Boogie and I have been on eleven flights together? What puzzles me is this: eleven is an odd number, so shouldn’t we still be somewhere else?
